Frankreichtage der 4abc des GYS Feldkirch
Tag 1 – Colmar: Bereits in der zweiten Woche des neuen Schuljahres fuhren wir im Reisebus nach Colmar, wo wir gleich eine Stadtführung hatten. Wir sahen einige schöne Gassen sowie eine Kirche und erfuhren viel über einzelne Häuser und ihre Geschichte. Man erklärte uns auch, was die verschiedenen Muster des Fachwerks bedeuteten. Danach durften sich alle Schüler*innen in Kleingruppen frei durch die Stadt bewegen und sich etwas Gutes zum Mittagessen holen. Dieser Teil gefiel allen sehr und es machte Spaß. Im Anschluss fuhren wir weiter nach Straßburg, wo wir unsere komfortablen Hotelzimmer in der Nähe des Place Kléber bezogen.
Tag 2 – Straßburg: Am Donnerstagmorgen frühstückten wir in unserem Hotel und wurden daraufhin in zwei Gruppen aufgeteilt. Die eine Gruppe besuchte zuerst das Europäische Parlament, während die andere an einer Stadtführung durch Straßburg teilnahm. Im Parlament besichtigten wir den Plenarsaal mit Audio-Guides und lernten viel Neues über das EU-Parlament. Am Nachmittag ging es für die zweite Gruppe ins Parlament und für uns begann die Stadtführung. Die Führerin zeigte uns schöne Plätze und erzählte vieles über die wechselvolle Geschichte Straßburgs. Zwischen den beiden Programmpunkten durften wir Straßburg auf eigene Faust erkunden. Zum krönenden Abschluss des Tages erwartete uns eine Bootstour, bei der wir unter anderem das schöne Viertel La Petite France entdeckten. Nach diesem langen und aufregenden Tag bekamen wir französischen Flammkuchen zum Abendessen.
Tag 3 – Hochkönigsburg, Colmar, Rückfahrt: Nach einem sehr früh angesetzten Frühstück fuhren wir am dritten und letzten Tag zur berühmten Hochkönigsburg, die sich ca. 800 Meter über dem Meeresspiegel befindet und einen fantastischen Ausblick über das Elsass bietet. Die gewaltige Festung (260 Meter lang) wurde im 12. Jh. erbaut und 1908 komplett restauriert. Der Rundgang war sehr lehrreich. Besonders beeindruckt waren wir von den ausgestellten Waffen und Geschützen. Bevor wir dann endgültig die Fahrt nach Hause antraten, verbrachten wir noch unsere Mittagspause in Colmar. Da wir uns dort schon gut auskannten, machte das viel Spaß.
Es waren drei großartige Tage voller Informationen, Spaß, Freude und Französisch. Wir möchten uns herzlichst für die gelungene Straßburg-Reise bedanken, sowohl bei unseren Lehrer*innen als auch beim Land Vorarlberg für die großzügige Förderung.

Our journey to Alsace, France
Wednesday, 22nd of September, half past six in the morning. We, i.e. 80 children (classes 4abc) and six teachers were standing in front of Gymnasium Schillerstraße in Feldkirch, waiting for our departure. We were glad we could go to France because the trip had been cancelled during the last school year. Finally, after our Covid-Test, we were ready for our journey and after about four and a half hours we arrived at Colmar, the third biggest town in Alsace.
Our guides explained some historical facts and particularities of Colmar, like the half-timbered houses, and the famous gingerbread. One of the most beautiful places in Colmar was Little Venice, a very small district traversed by the river Lauch. It looked like Venice in Italy, just smaller. Colmar is such a beautiful town that there is a copy of it in Malaysia.
After the guided tour, we had two hours to ourselves, then we continued our ride to the capital of Alsace, Strasbourg. Already a bit tired, we still had to walk nearly 20 minutes to our hotel, which was in the center of Strasbourg. When we finally checked in at six o’clock, we could go into our rooms for two to six persons. Quickly, we had to go for dinner at a restaurant and after that, we could enjoy Strasbourg at night, sit in a French café, eat an ice cream, or buy some souvenirs.
The next day, we had to get up at seven a.m. and eat our breakfast with French specialties. After that, we were divided into two groups. One group went to the European Parliament first and had a guided tour of the town in the afternoon. The other group had the same activities, just the other way round. When we arrived at the Parliament, we got audio guides and learned a lot about the tasks of the European Union, its history, organization, and people. The climax was, of course, the conference room. When we got back to the hotel, a guide was already waiting for us. It was an interesting and informative walk through many different districts, because we heard a lot about the town’s famous people, its architecture, and famous attractions. For example, we learned that the people of Alsace changed their nationalities five times during the last 350 years.
When the guide finished, we got another two hours of free time, so we could discover Strasbourg on our own. At five o’clock, we made a boat trip together on the river Ill, which lasted about one and a half hours. We got audio guides there, too, and we really enjoyed the trip. After dinner, we had to prepare for our departure on the following day.
We got up early in the morning and had to check out of the hotel after a very quick breakfast. We left Strasbourg around 8:30 a.m. and went to see a big medieval castle, the Château du Haut-Koenigsbourg. The castle is 757 meters above sea level, so we had a fantastic view of Alsace. On our tour through the castle we found out that it was built in the 12th century, burned down and abandoned in the 17th century and rebuilt at the beginning of the 20th century.
When we got back to our buses, we went to Colmar again and could do a bit of shopping for an hour. At 2 p.m., we left the town and arrived at Feldkirch at half past five. We were quite tired from the journey and happy to be back home.

Voyage en Alsace
Du 22 au 24 septembre 2021, nous, les classes 4abc du lycée Schillerstraße faisons un voyage en Alsace, en France. À sept heures, nous partons en car à Colmar. Notre voyage en France est super. Nous faisons une balade à Colmar avec une personne, qui sait beaucoup de choses sur la ville. La ville est très jolie. Il y a beaucoup de maisons du Moyen-Âge. Après la balade nous retournons au car et nous allons à Strasbourg. Les chambres à notre hôtel sont très grandes. À Strasbourg nous visitons les magasins.
Le deuxième jour, nous faisons une balade avec une guide à Strasbourg. Après, nous visitons le Parlement Européen. Il est très joli et grand. Plus tard nous faisons une balade en bateau sur l´Ill. Le bateau passe par la Petite France, c´est un quartier de Strasbourg avec des maisons du Moyen-Âge. Nous retournons à l´hôtel.
Le troisième jour, nous allons en car au Château du Haut-Koenigsbourg. C´est un grand château entre Strasbourg et Colmar. Après la visite du château, nous voyageons en Autriche. L´Alsace est très jolie. Nous voulons dire merci à nos profs, à notre conducteur de bus et au gouvernement du Vorarlberg.
