We've won - again AND again!

It's the third year in a row that Gymnasium Schillerstrasse has won the English Speaking Contest and will be sending its candidate to the Austrian contest in April. After Clemens Treichl and Martin Schefzik, who were the winners of the last two years' competitions in Vorarlberg, it's Nihan-Dide Celem (8bn) who won the language speaking contest this year.

Nihan did not only succeed in a rather demanding panel discussion with three other very good speakers of English, she also convinced the jury with her presentation and her role-play. This year’s topic of the panel discussion was advertising, which seems to be one of the favourite topics of English teachers because all the candidates had a good knowledge of it. Then in the speech they had either to present their opinion about Sports or Fashion and Beauty. In the third part, the role-play, the candidates had to attend a job interview for answering fan letters and reporting to the British queen.

Our other two candidates, Evelyn Madlener and Denis Hartmann (9m), were also very good at presenting themselves. Denis had to leave after the first round because in his panel discussion it was very difficult to say anything without being interrupted. Therefore, he was not really able to show his language skills. Evelyn gave a great speech about fashion and beauty but due to very fierce competition, she didn't advance into the third round.

However, in the name of our school I'd like to thank Evelyn and Denis once more for participating in the contest. Additionally, I am happy to  be able to congratulate Nihan  on her great success and (to) wish her all the best for the contest in Vienna in April!
