English contest
The English contest took place on Tuesday, 9th March. Altogether there were 19 students from all over Vorarlberg participating in this competition. After an internal qualification round Clemens Treichl and Martin Nägele (both 7D) were chosen to represent our school on that day.

As in the years before students got the chance to give evidence of their skills in three different and demanding rounds. After each of them a jury consisting of 4 English teachers from different schools decided which students would participate again in the next round. In the end, they had to find the one student who should win the competition.

In the first round all 19 students had to survive in panel discussions in groups of four or five. The audience could watch three genuinely interesting debates about a demanding and controversial topic, and in the end both Clemens and Martin proved successful.
Afterwards, the 9 candidates left had to master the probably most difficult part of the competition, a speech of 4 to 5 minutes, part of which was a self-presentation of about one minute. Nonetheless, one of our students, Clemens Treichl, could overcome all difficulties and together with three other candidates he qualified for the final round.
In the grand finale the participants did not only have to show their talent for foreign languages to the audience but also give evidence of their talent as an actor or actress. All the candidates did extraordinarily well but as Clemens could rely on some acting experience he did better than most of them and was ranked second behind Elena Gamon from the BG Bludenz.

In conclusion, I think we will remember a perfectly organised English contest with extremely successful representatives of the Gymnasium Schillerstrasse: Clemens Treichl and Martin Nägele (ranked 5th).
